2023 Handbook & Contract Reviews
April 2023 is the perfect time to review your contracts of employment & employee handbooks to ensure that they are always inline with current legislation. Along with the usual legislation, we have highlighted some key recommended clauses for your contracts & handbooks that you may not already have:
Contract of Employment:
Right to Work Clause
This clause should detail the requirements of the employee to have the right to work in the UK.
Authorised Healthcare Professionals
Along with GPs, authorised healthcare professionals can also provide employees with ‘fit notes’ and this should be detailed in the contract of employment.
Private Work Clause
This is to ensure your employees do not take on private work whilst working for your company.
Deductions from Pay
This is to clearly outline the situations in which the company would deduct from an employee’s pay and how it would be calculated.
Payment in Lieu
This is to specify that whether the termination is due to resignation or dismissal, the company reserves the right to pay in lieu of notice.
- Parental Bereavement Leave Policy.
- Equal Opportunities Policy – are the protected characteristics detailed correctly within this policy. They should be as follows: age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race (including colour, nationality, ethnic and national origin), religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation.
- Social Media Policy.
- Bring your own Device Policy.
- Whistleblowing Policy – this is to specify the charity number that employees can contact.
- Workplace Cancer Policy.
- Menopause Policy.
Graduate Recruitment Schemes
At Agile HR, we have had the privilege of running many successful graduate recruitment schemes for a variety of businesses. A graduate recruitment scheme can bring numerous benefits to businesses, making it a wise investment for business owners to consider. Some of the key benefits include:
1. Fresh talent:
A graduate recruitment scheme can provide businesses with access to a pool of fresh talent, often with up-to-date skills and knowledge. This can bring new perspectives and ideas to the organisation, which can be beneficial in driving innovation and growth.
Compared to hiring experienced professionals, recruiting graduates can be more cost-effective. Graduate salaries are typically lower, and businesses can save on training costs by moulding graduates to fit their specific needs.
3. Increased retention:
Graduates who are hired into a structured graduate scheme are often more committed to the organisation and less likely to leave within the first few years of employment. This can save businesses on recruitment costs and provide stability to the workforce.
4. Diverse workforce:
Graduate recruitment can help businesses create a diverse workforce, which can bring numerous benefits, including increased creativity, better decision-making, and improved employee morale.
5. Succession planning:
By hiring graduates, businesses can create a pipeline of talent that can be developed and nurtured over time. This can help with succession planning and ensure that the business has a strong leadership team in the future.
Agile can help you put together a program and support you all the way through. We offer bespoke packages covering every step of the process from job design and description, advertising and screening and running bespoke selection days including group exercises and personality profiling.
Does it make sense to use a Sales Psychometric to hire the best Sales People?
YES! In my experience Sales people are often the hardest to assess as they are experts in selling and this also applies to their expertise.
Therefore using a Sales Psychometric enables you to see what they haven’t told you and where their particular selling strengths lie (and do these match with what you are looking for?)
At AgileHR we offer the comprehensive OPQ Sales Report which helps you understand the candidates Motivators to sell, combined with their personality drivers. We can highlight natural style and how this translates to strength.
The report can also be used as a coaching tool for existing staff as it analyses targets and performance, highlighting strengths and also areas to focus on for improving sales performance. This can be done individually or as a Sales Team.
The report can then be used to identify key interview questions for selecting your top candidates.
